Opatija’s perfect symbiosis of indulgence and chocolate in November

The sweetest weekend – Chocolate Festival from 8 to 10 November

In November, Opatija turns into a paradise for chocolate lovers! Famed for its long tradition of tourism, the town will once again become Croatia’s capital of sweet delights, offering an irresistible combination of excellent chocolate delicacies, a varied music programme, cultural events, and educational workshops.

November in Opatija will be all about the sweetest delicacy, which the town’s restaurants and cafés will be offering in the form of food and beverages; meanwhile, local wellness centres will invite visitors to completely relax with unique ‘choco’ wellness & spa treatments.
The highlight of these sweet events will be the 18th Chocolate Festival, which from 8 to 10 November will bring together exclusive craft chocolatiers, confectioners and leading Croatian and foreign chocolate producers. During these three days of pure bliss, chocolate lovers of all ages will have the opportunity to taste selected chocolate delicacies, participate in interesting educational workshops and presentations, visit themed exhibitions or simply enjoy the great festival atmosphere.

The three-day programme of Opatija’s sweetest festival will take place in the Gervais Centre, the Juraj Šporer Art Pavilion and the Zora Cultural Centre. Throughout November, the town’s hotels and cafés will enchant visitors with the scents and aromas of the finest chocolates. This year’s festival also brings some novelties, such as the educational Chocolate Laboratory workshop, where visitors of all ages will be able to make their own personalised chocolate and learn more about the magical world of chocolate. Thanks to the cooperation with the Embassy of the Kingdom of Belgium, renowned Belgian chocolatier Alexandre Druart will appear in Opatija for the first time, creating a chocolate sculpture of the Atomium, Brussels’ world-famous landmark.

Opatija’s Chocolate Festival is not only a treat for those with a sweet tooth but also an opportunity to experience the unique chocolate-inspired culinary offer, which will then be available to Opatija’s guests throughout the ‘chocolate month’ of November. The participation of restaurateurs, hoteliers and other local stakeholders makes this event even more special, and the diversity of the offer attracts visitors from Croatia and abroad. Last year, the festival had more than 10,000 visitors, which confirmed its growing popularity and importance in making Opatija a year-round destination.
