The Marunada is a traditional gastronomic event dedicate to a special species of chestnut, which grows on the slopes of Učka - "maruni". The event features among the top ten European culinary and gastronomic events. The Maruni chestnut differs in size and sweetness compared to its "continental relatives or chestnuts in general", and can be found only in the woods by Opatija's riviera.
Try all the delicacies made from maruni, including sweets. You can also buy raw or roasted chestnuts. The event is accompanied by a musical program, featuring beloved local and foreign musicians.
